How to Cook

Wash rice cakes in cold water once.

Bring all ingredients to a boil in a pot.

When the water boils and the rice cake swells,

Reduce the heat to medium.

Simmer for about 1-2 minutes and it's done.

What is tteokbokki?

Tteokbokki (also spelled ddukbokki, ddeokbokki, dukbokki or topokki), 떡볶이, is a beloved Korean rice cake dish with many variations and a rich history. Literally translated as “stir-fried rice cake”, this dish is made with garaetteok, a cylinder-shaped white rice cake. This spicy rice cake dish is enormously popular as a street food and also often enjoyed at home.

Tteokbokki voted no.1 comfortfood amid pandemic

Seoul Metropolitan Government said Tteokbokki has been voted the most popular food to life people's spirits during the ongoing COVID-19 pandamic

In an online survey in Sepember 2020, the city goverment asked people to name their favorite comfort food and got more than 10,000 responses.

Tteokokki was followed by fried chicken, kimchi stew, pork belly, samgyetang, instant noodles.

Many women chose tteokbokki, saying it's her eat to food whenever she feel sad or lonely.

It's a great food to get rid of all negative thoughts. It gives you the spiciness, warmth and smoothness when you are feeling depressed.
