Plastic, like paper, has the characteristics of deteriorating quality every time it is recycled. Dr. jianbo zhu of Colorado State University in the U.S. found that this tendency was due to the inconsistency in the types of polymers that made up the plastic, making it practical for the same molecules to be recycled several times. Since then, it plans to apply it step by step in areas where plastic is used a lot like PET bottles.[5]

There are also plastics that are not recyclable, and even if possible, the recycling rate is not very high due to economic reasons such as unit prices. Most of these discarded plastics are pushed to the sea and piled up in the same form as the Pacific Ocean's huge garbage patch, which causes digestive problems and death to sea creatures who mistake them for jellyfish. The plastic then gradually splits into small pieces called microplastics, which accumulate in the body of sea creatures and eventually accumulate in the body of the person who eats them.
