Mechanism of Azamethiphos

Electrical signals transmit information in the 

nervous system, for instance from the brain of an

insect to its legs. When an electric signal has 

acrossed an axon and arrives at the synapse, a 

neurotransmitter released.

The neurotransmitter crosses the synapse and links 

up with a receiver  on the next axon. This new link 

equally genertates electric signals and for the entire 

time the neurotransmitter is linked up to the receiver.

To stop the signal, the neurotransmitter ought to 

be deactived. acetylcholinesterase deactivate

Acetylcholine.

Organophosphorous insecticides, such as 

azamethiphos, inhibit the action of  the 

enzyme,  acetylcholinesterase .

Acetylcholine thus  remains intact and the 

electric signal continues uninhibited. This 

leads to an overexcitement of the system 

and finally, to the death of the insect.

Thanks to its properties, Azamethiphos can

be used to control different species of 

insects, such as: flies, ants, cockoaches, 

etc...
