Product Information

TPMS(Tire Pressure Monitoring System)

Tire Pressure Monitoring System
TPMS measures tire’s temperature and air pressure in a real-time so that the driver is alarmed the tire’s condition. It’s tire safety system in order to minimize the crush due to tire problem.

The most considering points of tire selection are the safety, driving convenience and economic.

According to a research, half of flat tires are caused by the penetration of tread, and others by damages or penetration on side wheels. Among them, 85% tires go flat by 10mb/H air leaks, or sharp objects such as nails. When nails were embedded to wheels, they are too small for drivers to notice. So leak goes slow. However, when the nails go out, tire gets flat immediately. Unpredictable flat tires represent 15% cases, which were caused by sudden tire damage. It accompanies sudden loss of tire pressure, and drivers cannot drive smoothly. Ultimately, tragic accidents may occur. In case of high speed driving, this will bring more serious damages or large human losses. However, TPMS M-System senses every possible case, and alerts drivers as Normal/Cautious/Danger/Urgent by Buzzer or on LED/LCD Display. It is an intelligent system that informs the status of tires in a real-time manner.

l Legalization and prospect of TPMS l

Studies have shown that running tires with too little air pressure is not uncommon. It’s been estimated that about one out of every four vehicles on the road is running on under-inflated tires. This also means that one out of every four drivers is needlessly sacrificing their vehicle’s fuel economy and handling, and reducing their tires’ durability and tread life. So, they insist on equipping TPMS in order to get economic benefits and driver’s safty.
The U.S. government has passed legislation(49 CFR parts 571 and 585) that requires all passenger cars and light trucks under 10,000 pounds of gross vehicle weight to eventually be equipped with tire pressure monitoring systems. The main purpose of these systems is to warn the driver if their tires are losing air pressure, leaving the tires under-inflated and dangerous.
It is applied to more than 50% of new vehicle from Sep. 1st , 2005 in advance, more than 90% from Sep. 1st. 2005 and all of light vehicles from Sep. 1st. 2004.
