My hobby is riding a bicycle. I usually ride in the evening, so I use LED headlights for safety. If you ride a bike with only one LED headlight, you will have difficulty  adjusting the light flexibly according to a speed, and if you ride a bike with several lights,  you will also have difficulty controlling lights and  maintaining battery consumption. In particular, you need high_power LEDs to see both the near and far places.

Those high-power LEDs cause a problem of severe glare on riders coming to you opposite. 

Recently, car headlights are getting smarter every day as cars can automatically adjust their lighting according to a speed. Could the bicycle LED headlights be smarter like those of cars? Using one of the most common ideas, my company completed the development of the Ammonite product, a headlight that  can automatically illuminate a far place if a rider rides slowly and a near place if a rider rides fast.

Lighting Mode

1. Auto Mode : Automated optimal night lights. Our product measures a user's speed using the smartphone GPS and automatically provides optimized lighting.

The low-speed LED lamp  illuminates a nearby wide area (approximately 3m ahead of a user)

with soft lighting.

The medium-speed LED lamp illuminates a wide area  (approximately 12 m ahead of a user),

making a user respond to various situations.

The high-speed LED lamp illuminates an area (approximately 25 m ahead of a user),

enabling a user to identify a distant object quickly.

2. Manual Mode : A variety of choices. Users can select optimized light mode

(the low-speed, medium-speed and high-speed modes) regardless of an actual speed.

3. Daytime  Mode : Clearer visibility. Not only one LED lamp flashes, but the other lamps also flash. The LED lamps flash in order from top to bottom, easily making a rider more visible to others

Three kinds of flickering

1. Flashing to celebrate connection : When the APP and HW are connected by BT, the product activates the congratulatory flashing and welcomes users

2. Flashing to celebrate goal achievement : The product congratulates the user by activating the congratulatory flashing  when the pre-set goal is achieved.

3. Danger detection flashing : When the product detects a situation like the user’s fall, it will automatically flash to warn people around the user.

+ UX

1. Automatic minimum brightness : The product minimizes battery consumption and glare. When the user is not moving, the product will automatically detect the situation and minimize the brightness.

2. Records of bike riding : The product helps you manage records. The product helps record management by storing the user's travel distance, travel time, and average speed.

3. USB-C charging : Use the same charger that you use for others. 

A user can use the smartphone charger and existing chargers (using a  USB gender).
