Earthquake Resistant Rubber Bearing - 'ERB PLUS - CIRCLE'
At present bearing design, elastomeric beaing is classified with fixed, one directional,
multi directional by wedge direction, But it seemed that the classification is not necessary in elastomeric bearing.
By applying with circular shape for bearings, it is possible to improve workability, economic efficiency, structural stability, aesthetics.
▶ Current design and problems
-Current design : At present, the elastomeric bearing is designed, manufactured and tested according to Korean Industrial Standard KS F4420, and its direction is distinguished by installing a wedge.
-Usual : The temperature load and the wind load are designed to resist the elastic support provided with the wedge. However, if the wedge is detached, it is different from the structural calculation at the time of design, and unnecessary base replacement occurs.
-When an earthquake : Assuming that the wedge is detached during the calculation of the structure, it is designed only by the rigidity of the rubber, regardless of the presence or absence of the wedge. However, if the wedge does not fall, the structural calculation and the actual behavior of the structure will be different.

- Since there is no wedge, the size of bearing is reduced, which maximizes economic efficiency and reduces maintenance cost.
-Minimized size easily makes an edge distance thus coping width of substruvture is reduced and construction costs are saved.

-Removal of wedge and expansion joint Unification
-Eliminating the unnecessary wedge of the elastic bearing can reduce the construction cost by applying all the omnidirectional support. In addition, the expansion joint is generated from the center of the girder, and by using the expansion joint of the same standard, it is possible to reduce the construction cost by reducing the use of a large standard expansion joint in the case of multi span.
