Gupo Noodle
Gupo Noodle is the first case that became a famous brand by the name of location itself in
Korea.

Since Choson period, Gupo was a center of logistic because it located in a river mouth of
Nakdong river and took a role for a place of strategic importance of water transportation &
trading while many cereals and laborer gathered.

After opening a port, Gupo ferry has been maintained its a fame of a port city and lots
of container freight station and a pounding facility started when collecting of many cereals
for exporting to Japan at Gupo after Kyoungbu station is established.

The noodle has been started to produced during the korean war and at that time many
refugees gathered in Gupo in order to refreshed empty belly with a low price and many
noodle factory has been established.

Gupo noodle’s feature of salty and chewy is come from a wind with humidity contained a
salt content blowing from the sea and Nakdong river.

Since 1980, the company judged that it is not possible to produce anymore in the area of
Gupo because of an environment problems and they moved to Hwangmae mountain located
in Hapcheon with a very clean air and water.

Along with this, our company registered the patent of location trademark right to the office
of Patent Administration and acquired the trademark of “Manufacturer of Gupo
Noodle“ but, Gupo is a kind of general name of a region and some other company located
in different area pirate a trademark of the name of Gupo Noodle because of the decision of
the court that one company can not monopolized the trademark.
