Product Information
Introduction
This surface propagation tester (ISO 9239, Flooring Radiant Panel Tester) similarly reflects phenomenon which flooring propagates flame in back-draught condition (When fire occurs, flames or high temperature gas generated from compartment or adjacent room accumulates on the upper part of corridor passage during the initial fire growth stage. Then radiant heat is radiated to the floor, and flooring propagates flame in back-draught condition).
Place the specimen horizontally under a gas radiation panel which is inclined 30° to the horizontal plane. The pilot flame as the ignition source, apply it to one end of the high temperature side of the test body, and record the time when the ignition starts. The tester converts distance that flame moved horizontally along the length of the specimen into the elapsed time and records it
▣ ISO 9239-1 : Reaction to Fire Tests for Floorings - Part 1 :
Determination of the Burning Behavior Using a Radiant Heat Source
▣ ISO 9239-2 : Reaction to Fire Tests for Floorings - Part 2 : Determination of Flame Spread at a Heat Flux Level of 25kW/m2
▣ ASTM E 648 : Standard Test Method for Critical Radiant Flux of Floor-Covering Systems Using a Radiant Heat Energy Source
▣ ASTM E 970 : Standard Test Method for Critical Radiant Flux of Exposed at Attic Floor Insulation Using a Radiant Heat Energy Source
▣ NFPA 253 : Standard Method of Test for Critical Radiant Flux of Vol.6)
Floor Covering Systems Using a Radiant Heat Energy Source (National Fire Codes,
▣ KS F ISO 9239-1 : Reaction to Fire Tests for Floorings - Part 1 : Determination of the Burning Behavior Using a Radiant Heat Source
▣ KS F ISO 9239-2: Reaction to Fire Tests for Floorings - Part 2 : Determination of Flame Spread at a Heat Flux Level of 25kW/m2
▣ Test chamber is made of plate(calcium + silicate) having a thickness of 13 ± 1mm and a nominal density of 650 kg / m3.
▣ The air passage between the test chamber and a specimen holder area is constructed to all of the test samples on both sides equivalents (0.23 ± 0.03) m2.
▣ Radiant panel must be inclined 30 ± 1 ° relative to the horizontal panel. It is built to withstand Celsius 900 ℃. It contains a safety shut-down device.
▣ Pilot burner has uniformly arranged 19 holes with size of 0.7mm. It is made at an angle of 60 ° down to the center line
▣ Exhaust device with exhaust stack’s air speed of 2.5 ± 0.2 m / s is attached.
▣ Uses a radiation pyrometer to adjust the surface heat of the radiation panel. The radiation pyrometer has a range of 480 ° C to 530 ° C (black body temperature) and has an accuracy of ± 5 ° C, which is suitable for observing an area of 250 mm in diameter at a distance of about 1.4 m.
▣ Heat flow (kW / m2) can be measured within the tolerance range from 110 mm to 910 mm from the radiant panel at intervals of 100 mm.
▣ Possible to adjust the Pilot burner’s flame length to 60 ~ 120 mm
▣ Possible to adjust restricted temperature (900 ℃) of the rear panel by adjusting air flow rate of radiant panel
▣ The observed flame propagation distance is converted into kilowatt-hour (kW / m2) using the heat flux line then measures the critical heat flux (CHF)
▣ For products with a test time longer than 30 minutes, record the time of the flame extinction and the furthest distance of the flame propagation and convert it to CHF (critical heat flux).
▣ When a smoke measurement is required, the smoke density is measured by the transmittance of the photometric system.
