Copper-Nickel
Cu90/Ni10 alloy is a high strength and excellent
corrosion resistance alloy that offers outstanding resistance to biofouling and
sea water corrosion. It offers low temperature coefficient of electric
resistivity for which it is commonly used in making electric equipments. It is
utilized for long term performance in the commercial applications.
Copper-Nickel
Cu90/Ni10 alloy has moderate thermal stability at the
elevated temperatures. It offers good resistance to oxidation in the moist air
and steam and stress corrosion cracking.
Cu90/Ni10
alloy has good fabricability and natural
resistance to marine water. The content of manganese, niobium, iron and or
chromium provides excellent corrosion resistance and strength.

and Heat processing
Annealing: Cu90/Ni10 alloy is annealed at temperatures from 593oC to 816oC or
1100oF to 1500oF.
Cold Processing: It has good cold
processing tendency.
Hot Processing: Excellent hot forming
capacity
Welding: Cu90/Ni10 alloy is welded
through gas shielded arc
welding, spot welding, coated metal arc welding, butt welding, oxyacetylene
welding, brazing, soldering and seam welding methods.
Forging: The forging temperature
varies from 843oC to 954oC.
Machinability: The copper-Nickel alloy
Cu90/Ni10 has machinability rate about 20%.
Applications
of Copper-Nickel alloy Cu90/Ni10 alloy
Marine engineering: Copper-Nickel alloy Cu90/Ni10 alloy is
used in making seawater pipes and hydraulic lanes, desalination system parts,
fish cages etc.
Aerospace: Cu90/Ni10 alloy is used in the production of intercooler and oil
cooler and honeycomb radiators.
Automobile: It is used as corrosion
resistance tube in the automobile brake lines. The retro fit sets are used in
the various vehicles. The service life of Cu90/Ni10 alloy is generally more
than the expected life of vehicle.
The Cu90/Ni10 alloy is used in casting in the oil processing plants,
barrier valves, chairs, cover, rings and shafts and high tension devices that
are subjected to corrosion and wear conditions. Moreover it is used in push ring and rigorous solutions for heat exchanger,
mixers and presses, autoclaves, distillation equipments and fitting and making
some kinds of apparatus.
The Cu90/Ni10 alloy sheet is used in bathing batch heater, cooling condenser and oil
coolers. Due to the fouling inhibition properties and excellent corrosion
resistance in the aqueous media, the copper-nickel alloy has tendency for
cladding.
