Oil Scum Skimmer (formerly Scum Skimmer)

 KOS-B-SR series Oil Scum Skimmers are frequently used to remove or recover floating oil and oily scum from the surface of water or solutions. For adequate skimmer operation, various sorts of lubricants for motors or machineries, fats, oil and grease (FOG) should all be immiscible and in a free-flowing state. Also, for more effective oil skimming capability, the water surface needs to be stable and oil droplets, mechanically and temporarily suspended in the water, be allowed appropriate time until they freely rise up to the surface before oil droplet-laden water lastly moves away as effluent. Also called a scum skimmer or scum remover. Removal of chemically emulsified oil and semi-solid grease or fat requires using another device.

How it works

The motor-driven head pulley turns and moves the oleophilic belt around the circuit from the head pulley to the tail pulley below water so that the belt can enter and exit the water to continuously contact with surface oil layers. Oil sticks to both sides of the rotating belt and gets wiped out as the belt passes through two bisymmetric wiping blades. Specially in a situation where there is, in addition to some oil, much floating oily scum on the water surface that consequently deposits down within the skimmer or clogs up its oil or water outlet, KOS-B-SR series is very useful since the positively sloped guide chute has been added to the posterior of the skimmer by removing the small size gravity O/W separator of KOS-B series, so that there is no room for oily scum to deposit within the skimmer and oily scum rapidly drains outside as soon as get wiped off through a set of wiping assembly.
