Overcurrent Trip Devices
1. Thermal Magnetic Type
- Demonstrative Trip
If overcurrent flows, bi-metal is heated and bent toward arrow so as to activate Trip Cross Bar to be automatically broken. - Instantaneous Trip
If a large current flows, Fix Core sucks Armature and activates Tip Bar to be automatically broken.
2. ODP(Oil Dash Pot) Type
- Demonstrative Trip
If overcurrent flows, Plunger is sucked in Plug and Plug becomes magnetized, sucking Armature to be automatically broken. - Instantaneous Trip
If an instant large current flows, Plug becomes magnetized even though Plunger does not move because magnetic flux in magnetic circuit becomes larger, sucking Armature to be automatically broken.
Earth Leakage Detection Principles
Earth Leakage Breaker is a current working type breaker that detectsground fault current to break the circuit when ground fault current is generated due to earth leakage from the edge of load, and uses ZCT(Zero Current Transformer) as a detector. Inthe normal state of circuit, load current(IL) passing through ZCT is well balanced and output will not appear at the secondary side of ZCT, as shown in the Fig.(a).
Inthe state of groun fault current generated as shown in the Fig.(b), ground fault current(lg) flows and load current(IL) passing through ZCT becomes imbalanced and this cause induced current(lt), breaking the circuit by filtering Trip Coil.
